The beauty of the bond between a mother and her daughter carries its own complexity. When mine took to the sea to sail across the world, our relationship was reinvented. This film is a letter to my mother, meant to be universal, guided by the metaphor of the ocean. I explore what it means to love, to protect one another, and sometimes to lose oneself between mother and daughter.

biography

My name is Manon Dejean. I’ve been using the Nikon Z6 for years, first for street photography, capturing spontaneous moments of life. Today, I direct documentaries in New Caledonia. With the same camera, I film an intimate story: my mother at sea, to reimagine our bond.
