Nour tells the story of a child born blind who, after surgery, sees for the first time a TV image of a dead child on a beach. Shaken, he closes his eyes and chooses his inner world over reality’s violence. The film, inspired by my encounter with a blind girl and the 2015 photograph of little Aylan found lifeless on a Turkish beach, questions where beauty resides in a world saturated with cruel images, and whether it lies in what we see or in the gaze we choose.
